Why does it seem that I always have multiple things to write about all at once? I guess I need to get better about saving drafts. In the meantime, stay tuned, ’cause I have several posts in the works.
- Lots of people find lots of great stuff at the thrift store or at yard sales – great furniture, Samsonite luggage, perfectly-fitting suits for $2, you name it. Not me. I rarely seem to find anything useful. But I have had a few great finds over the last two weeks, and I’d like to share them (when I get a chance to edit the photos).
- I put together the frames for the cabinets in my kitchen island today. It’s definitely a far-from-finished deal, but the kitchen is already much improved, even in its temporary condition. (Again, I definitely want to share a photo or two – once I get them edited for size.)
- I made – literally – a coupon box the other day. I took step-by-step photos so I can show you the process I went through. (Are you seeing the trend here?)
- I have at least two books to review over the coming week or two. One I’m almost finished with, and it is terrific, so I’m very excited to share it with you. The second is a very unique Bible which should be arriving soon. Both reviews should be coming in the very near future, so keep your eyes open. 🙂
I never find the good stuff at yard sales. But I’ve found some super stuff online at shopgoodwill.com. Yes, Goodwill stores sell stuff at auction, and usually there are very few bidders for the things I like. I’ve gotten some nice kitchen gadgets, a couple of brand-new designer purses very cheap, lots of little odds and ends. My best find – an old wind-up 31 day clock. They didn’t know if it worked or not, and the pendulum was missing. I took a risk on it, hoping I could get a pendulum cheap from a clock repair shop. When I moved the clock around, I could hear a rattle, which definitely did not sound normal. I poked around as far as I could reach in the works, and felt something round and smooth. I slid it out – it was the pendulum! It had been shoved up inside the clock! So I got the clock for next to nothing, and it works beautifully.
Really? I just recently discovered Goodwill online; I’ll have to keep that in mind and go visit the site more often!
