Last year I pretty well bombed on my goals list. I was making some progress — through about February. Sooo…trying again, and many of last year’s items are repeats on this year’s list. (I have never completed my entire goals list in a given year. But it’s usually less epic a fail than 2012.) This year, Michael and I sat down together and went over (and revised/added to) our goals. This is the first time we’ve done this, and that’s silly, because neither of us was able to help the other work the right direction. I’m glad we did this, and hope we will do it every year from here on out.
2013’s goals look something like this:
- Get Living Cookbook completely set up, as far as ingredients, linkage, and inventory/shopping. [Note: This is my recipe software. I imported all of my recipes a long time ago, but I have a large collection, so I hadn’t gotten around to making sure everything is linking properly to the ingredients, or made use of features such as the shopping list.]
- Find/create GF recipes for bread (even if flatbread), tortillas, pancakes, ….
- Find 30+ new, healthy, workable GF recipes.
- Include 10+ [of the 30] that are freezer- and or crockpot-friendly.
- Find natural replacements for hair products.
Schedule school planning for 2013-14.Create content plan for blog.- Create parameters to define which reviews to do/accept.
Blog stat goals[Note: I have these defined specifically for myself, but it feels a little too weird to post them here. It’s things like # page views/month, #/Twitter followers, etc.]Create plan for which products to work on.- Complete 1 major [started-but-not-yet-finished] product. [Requests welcome for which ones to prioritize!]
- Complete 2 smaller [started-but-not-yet-finished] products.
Get at least 12 new photos accepted for stock sales.- Have Christmas list finished & Christmas blog posts written/scheduled by August 1. [Note: This is not to have all my shopping/crafting done by then. Just the list so I will have a heads-up of what to do. Realistically, the list part probably still won’t be done.]
Set up procedures for menu/inventory/shopping process.Set up procedures for blog/writing/social media.- Set up procedures and spaces for schoolwork.
- Rework the house to better utilize space.
Get the playroom/area completely set up.Create new wardrobe plan, based on Bright Spring & Soft Dramatic Soft Natural guidelines (and keep in mind the need for nursing access!)- Rework recipe notebook & remainder of collection of kitchen paperwork. [There was a method to this madness before we moved, but it’s devolved into a “random” pile of papers.]
Replace kitchen checklist.- Check for Michael’s lunch needs in the evening at least 4x’s/week. (Ask him for a list.) [He prefers to make his lunch in the morning, rather than have me make it the night before, so it’s fresh. But I need to be better about making sure we have all the necessary parts.]
- Reorganize laundry room.
- Make quarterly dry-cleaning runs for Michael.
- Beginning in June, have the laundry done every week – at least whites & darks/coloreds. [“Beginning in June” because between now and then there are likely to be large chunks of time when hauling hefty baskets of laundry up and down the stairs is not the wisest job for me. We’ve been sharing this particular load. No pun intended.]
- Get the girls set up with budgets.
- Go through all digital photos: plan scrapbooks, print photos, and back up photos to disk.
- [private – silly, flirty project for hubby]
- Read half or more of the Bible. [At this point, I should probably note that these are not in order of priority! I started with the items I copied over more-or-less from last year and then started filling in the gaps.]
- Memorize 6 Scripture verses/passages.
- Copy 24 children’s tapes to CD. [These are my old Scripture tapes from my childhood. They don’t get any use because they’re cassettes.]
- Get in shape. (Be able to jump rope 75+ consecutive times, stretch to toes, do 20 pushups.)
- Learn all bellydancing moves on my DVD. [She has a prenatal one, too, which I’m currently using.]
- Make a will.
- Take the kids to the zoo.
- Have photos taken in a photo booth with Michael. [This is more of a “bucket list” type item than a true “goal.”]
Create a default cleaning supply/method list.[We had defaults that I didn’t have to think about until we started looking for natural products. I’ve just never gotten around to sorting out what these are now.]- Finish the genealogy books! [Ouch. These are 2011’s Christmas gifts for my brothers-in-law, and I still haven’t finished them.]
- Schedule 2 CLEP tests. [I haven’t worked on the actual scheduling yet – that’s budget-dependent – but have begun working on a study guide for the first one.]
- Celebrate Sukkot.
- Have a quarterly date night with Michael.
- Potty train Livia.
- Train Sophia to wash the dishes & load the dishwasher. [These last few are goals hubby wanted me to set for the girls. They’re mostly things for them to accomplish, but I am to oversee them.]
Have Ariel able to fix dinner monthly by the end of the year.- Ariel should add 10+ recipes to her repertoire (including bread). (I’m not sure if we thoroughly completed this one or not.)
- Ariel should learn to change diapers.
Have you set goals yet for this year? Did you think big or go with baby steps (or some of both)? How did you do in 2012?
*Italics in the goals list indicates that the item is currently in progress; strikethrough indicates it’s complete.
