It’s become a routine with me that I post my goals here. I usually look back on the goals from the past year, too, to see which ones I reached or at least made progress on, but somehow my 2014 goals list (the printed version) disappeared and — silly me, it didn’t even occur to me to check here until just now. (That’s one good reason for me to post them. It’s a backup copy!)
Sooo, I will be going back and updating that post, but I have a feeling there will be very little progress since I didn’t have the list around to look at for much of the year. (Yes, I’m feeling very foolish right about now.)
This year I’m trying something a little different. (Well, I’m trying a few things that are a little different.) The main thing is that I stuck with 3 goals in each category. I might — in fact, there’s a good chance I will — tweak these categories a little for next year, but this year I went with the categories Paul Evans used in Launch Your Year.
I have a tendency to think too big. Thinking big is not a bad thing — not at all! — but I tend to “go big” in every area in the same time period, and that really doesn’t work. There’s only so much focus to go around. So I worked this year at keeping the individual goals small enough that it’s realistic to have more than one of them in a year. 😉
2015 Goals
Health
1. Focus on one “baby step”/month.
2. MAP testing.
3. Seek out ways to grow in Passion & rediscover “Alpha.”
Money
1. Bring in $xxx/month by year’s end. (There’s a hard number for this, but I’m keeping it private.)
2. Establish a coherent plan for all income sources.
3. Pay off all debt (except mortgage, ‘though that would be nice!).
Family
1. Rethink school plan, and attempt to simplify.
2. (See Spiritual #2.)
3. Teach the girls to bake bread, and learn sourdough together.
Romance
1. (private)
2. Send 6+ cards/love letters. (Um…to my husband, of course.)
3. Go on a date & get photos in a photo booth. (Again…with hubby!)
Spiritual/Personal
1. Read Desiring God, and the credo/covenantal books on my stack*.
2. Get in the habit of prayer walking with the kids.
3. Take ACHS classes.
Career
1. Complete current business trainings. (stuff I already have but need to make time for)
2. Publish 6+ more books.
3. Reach a particular level in Simply Aroma & Vessel. (I’m keeping the specifics on this one semi-private, too.)
Physical Environment
1. Clear out all the excess “stuff.”
2. Find a way to organize the library.
3. Get a new living room rug.
Recreation
1. Fill a whole art journal.
2. Participate in a Photo-a-Day challenge one month.
3. Complete doodle class, Etsy doodle book, & Documented Faith.
Word of the Year
For the first time this year, I also decided to choose a “word of the year.” My word of the year is Passion. You’ll notice that in my Health goals, along with something about being “Alpha.” (A thorough explanation for that would be pretty long, but the short version is that I’m looking to do better this year at being my authentic self.)
One More Thing in 2015
One last thing I’m doing this year is participating in Documented Faith. In a nutshell, it’s a challenge to art journal the year, incorporating the things that God is doing in our lives. Lots of bloggers (and non-bloggers) are participating this year, and you can learn more and follow along here.
*For anyone who cares, those include The Chief End of Man, From Paedobaptism to Credobaptism, & The Distinctiveness of Baptist Covenant Theology. There are others on my want-to-read list, but these are already sitting here waiting for me.
