There are two key things I like about the Wii Fit Plus that help me with my exercise time/routine.
First is the goal options. It actually knows I’m underweight and lets me set a goal to gain. (It’s actually really funny to watch the animation of my skinny, scrawny little mii get droopy after it weighs me.) Most programs assume that everyone wants to gain weight, so they think I’ve already met my weight goal, since I’m below it. That’s very, very frustrating and I appreciate that there are options. (My husband is a normal weight, but he set a goal to gain a pound or two, also, figuring that if he adds muscle, he’ll gain a little.)
The second thing I really appreciate is the options it offers in terms of how to choose activities. In the original Wii Fit, I think you just picked your specific activities by category (Balance Games, Strength Training, or Yoga). This one has those options – with an additional category for the new games it introduced – but it has another option, as well. In the Training menu, you can choose which fitness goal(s) you want to work on during the current session – relax, lose weight, tone your arms, improve your posture, etc. – and it will put together some appropriate exercises to create a routine. I like to do it this way much of the time because it keeps me from doing only the same few exercises every time because they’re my favorites. It forces some variety. On the other hand, I have a lot of flexibility, time-wise, whichever way I select my activities. If I have my regular amount of time, I can put together a routine. If I’m running behind, I can choose just an activity or two, or put together a really short routine, so I can still exercise and maintain that habit, but not take too long.
