Having talked about the Government, Church, and Missions sections, let’s move on to the Family sections. Yes, I said sections, plural. If your immediate family is very small, you might be able to get away with one, but I felt I couldn’t give sufficient attention to my family members if they were all part of a single day’s focus, so I have a day/section for Immediate Family and a day/section for Extended Family. (Basically, the people who live in my house and the people who don’t.)
Each of the individuals in the immediate family section has a full page, and each one in the extended family section has either a page or half a page. That page, or section of a page, has a photograph of the person, plus plenty of blank space. As in the other sections, the photos help me remember, in general, to pray for each person, and the white space allows for taking notes in dry-erase marker of specific current prayer needs.
PrayingScriptures.com has pages of suggested ways to pray for your children, as well as one for loved ones in general. (I don’t see one for spouses, which seems a bit strange. The pastors’ or pastors’ family lists might be helpful in praying for our own husbands and families, though.) Having not used these lists (yet) myself, I can’t necessarily vouch for them, but they should at least make for a helpful starting point.
There are other similar lists/calendars, as well:
–prayer calendar (praying for our children) from Inspired to Action
–31-Day plan of praying for our husbands
-a different 31 days of praying for your husband (Nancy Leigh DeMoss)
–Thirty ways to pray for your husband (Stormie Omartian)
–ten things to pray for your husband
Any of these may be printed out and placed in your notebook.
If you want to purchase something along these lines, I know of several options. I purchased some bookmarks from CBD for my own notebook (Lifting My Husband Through Prayer and Lifting My Children Through Prayer; Lifting My Wife Through Prayer is also available). The calendar for children (above) is also available for purchase as a card.
Of course, you can pray whatever and however you like (and you could make your own list to print out), but sometimes specific suggestions are helpful to me to overcome the prayer equivalent of “writer’s block.” 🙂
