Having talked about the Government and Church sections of my prayer notebook, I’m moving on today to the Missions section.
It is probably not possible for most of us to pray for all possible missions endeavors. It’s probably more effective for us to choose a few that really resonate with us, and really bathe them in prayer. As usual, I appreciate visual reminders. These might vary. If you’re praying for a particular location, you could use a map. An organization might have a logo you could use. Of course, if there are applicable photos, you could use photos. My missions section includes missionaries our church specifically supports, as well as the orphanage in India where my sister has spent time ministering. In the past, it has included a map of people groups that Wycliffe is focusing on. I am also planning to add Mercy House.
Think about what missions or missionaries you have personal connections to, and add them to your book.
PrayingScriptures.com has pages of suggested ways to pray for our missionaries and for the nations. Having not used these lists (yet) myself, I can’t necessarily vouch for them, but they should at least make for a helpful starting point.
Of course, you can pray whatever and however you like, but sometimes specific suggestions are helpful to me to overcome the prayer equivalent of “writer’s block.” 🙂

Have you been able to visit Wycliffe in Orlando? It is a very interesting place. We did field trips there regularly and you really get an understanding of what they are doing, why, and how we can be a part of reaching all people groups with the gospel. We learned that there are people groups that have no written language (they just talk but have no books, dictionaries, etc.). The interpreters have to learn the native tongue, pen it, then transcribe the bible in their language. Can you imagine? But they have done this for many people groups. They have all the bibles on display at their facility.
Keep in mind that they have to teach these people how to read what they already speak, so they can read the bibles, and minister the Good News! They are worthy of our prayers and donations. 🙂
