I am being compensated for giving you a heads-up about this yummy seasonal product. However, as always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, TruMoo has come out with a new flavor of milk, the perfect pairing: Chocolate Marshmallow. (Well, okay, maybe one of the two perfect pairings. Chocolate Peanut Butter would be pretty awesome, too.)
We made ours Valentine-fun by adding heart-shaped ice “cubes” made from colored milk. I just swirled some food coloring into plain milk and poured them into this silicone mold. (It’s from IKEA, but the dollar store often sells them at this time of year.) Then we popped them in the freezer overnight.

To make it even easier, just grab a small bottle of the strawberry TruMoo and pour that in the mold! That (the Strawberry flavor), Vanilla, and Chocolate are all available all the time. And not all full of junk. (The “weirdest” thing in the chocolate flavor is carrageenan. I’ve seen some people vilify it, but it’s just a seaweed extract. It’s used as a thickener/emulsifier.) There is no high fructose corn syrup in this milk. It uses real milk (sourced from regional dairies), real cocoa, and real sugar. (Plus a few “trace” ingredients like cornstarch – for a thicker product, I assume – and vitamin D. Nothing unpronounceable.)
Now, these little “ice cubes” are great to have on hand for hot chocolate milk, to cool it off for little mouths.

But obviously they won’t hold their shape like this for long! (You can see it already melting a bit on the saucer as it sits.)

They add a fun touch to your cold milk, too, though…

…and in the cold milk they’ll stick around for a while.

Not Valentine’s Day anymore? Tint your milk whatever color you like and pop it in another seasonal mold. (Green shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day? Stars for Independence Day or Christmas? Orange Pumpkins in Autumn?) Or grab a letter or number mold and use this trick to help your little ones learn their letters.
TruMoo Chocolate & Marshmallow is available at Target now, and will be at Walgreens and supermarkets (and still at Target!) throughout the month of February. Wondering where to get it near you? Try the store locator. So you know what you’re looking for, it looks like this:
