I’ve never been part of a blog party before, but there are (at least) two going on right now in honor of the BlogHer conference this weekend, and I’ve decided to jump in with both feet. So, for those of you who are new to my little place on the web, here’s a post all about me. 🙂
I’m Rachel. I’m 29, and have been married for almost nine years now to Michael, who will turn 39 three days after our anniversary. I think he’s the most wonderful husband in the world – but this post isn’t about him, it’s about me. 😉 We homeschool our two little girls – Ariel ( who will be 7 in about a week) and Sophia (2) in our native Virginia. (Proud Southerner here, y’all!) I have a less-than-common perspective on homeschooling in that I am a homeschool graduate myself.
I’m a highly-opinionated bigmouth, learning (I hope!) to season the truth with grace. I love to learn, to collect information, and to pass that information on to others. It’s not that I think I’m a know-it-all; I just like to share what I have – and that’s more often information from my collection, rather than money or “stuff.” 😉 Like me, my blog is eclectic. I write about nearly everything that’s important or interesting to me and/or a part of my life. Sometimes that means rants about the state of the Church or a particularly awful book. More often, it’s a (tamer) book or product review, homeschooling helps, or frugal tips. I also like to exhort Christians – especially women – to grow in their faith and to make it evident by their lifestyles.
I am something of a “jack-of-all-trades but master of none,” I suppose. lol I am not the best homeschool blogger or the best frugality blogger. I don’t specialize in cooking (‘though you can find the vast majority of our tried-and-true recipes – or will be able to once I finish moving them all over – on my recipe blog: http://recipes.titus2homemaker.com). But I write a little bit about all of these things, and I think that I have something of value to share.
Oh, one more thing: my blog title. My mom was concerned when I chose it that “Titus 2 Homemaker” was somewhat arrogant, because it might suggest that I have it all together. Let me be the first to tell you that I most definitely do not have it all together! In fact, humanly speaking, I am not cut out for this job of homemaker and mother at all. I am not “a natural” at anything domestic! But Titus 2:3-5 talks about the older women teaching the younger, and you know what? – I will always be either an “older woman” or a “younger woman”! Sometimes I’m the one doing the teaching; sometimes I’m the one doing learning. I expect to spend the majority of my life doing some of both. Either way, I am, and always will be, a Titus 2 woman. 🙂

Followed you here through BlogNerd. I’m a homeschool grad too. 🙂
Found you through BlogNerd. I am pretty new to blogging, too. Still trying to figure it all out. And I am definitely not very domestic. I am working on that.

I am enjoying reading your blog! We are a homeschooling family plus my in-laws live with us. We’re well on our way to adopting a sibling group from Ethiopia and am learning how to live more and more frugally out of necessity! Love your post on Homeschooling and would agree completely!
I would love to be able to follow your blog. I am sooo very new to blogging and don’t know how to find and follow yours since it does not have the follow blog link at the top. If you get a chance to drop me an email and share with me how I’d appreciate it.
Blessings to you and your sweet family!
