A Pumpkin Prayer (Time to Pray)
by Amy Parker
This sweet autumn book from Tommy Nelson is a die-cut board book. (I love board books for the little ones, because they can’t inadvertently tear them while sitting in my lap!)
It’s a beautiful book, with soft colors and lovely artwork. The leaves on the front are flocked and glittery. Even the text is used to full effect, with certain words emphasized by autumn colors, and in swirly patterns reminiscent of the wind.
The whole book is a prayer of thanksgiving for blessings specific to the autumn season, as well as family, friends, and God!
I am disappointed, though, that the fifth page layout features a Jack-O-Lantern (in the words and the text). We don’t celebrate Halloween in our home, and were excited to find a book that highlights autumn, rather than Halloween, so to see that it includes Halloween, too, was a bummer. If that’s not a deal-breaker for you, you will find this book to be a beautiful addition to your children’s collection. Unfortunately, it probably won’t be sticking around our house (unless I come up with a way to edit that page). 🙁
Disclosure: Tommy Nelson provided me with a copy of A Pumpkin Prayer as part of their Tommy Mommy program. I received no monetary compensation, and all opinions are my own.
