Hopefully you saw my review of the CardMaker Kit Club a week or two ago. Today I’m going to highlight the second kit I received, so you can get a little bit of an idea of the variety. I was pleased to see that this kit was more guy-friendly. (The first kit produced cards that were probably too girly for the guys on your list!) It includes options for Father’s Day, birthdays, etc.
Here’s my first finished card from this kit:
This particular one was actually much easier to make than the cards from the first kit – it’s mostly just cutting (plain rectangles/strips) and gluing. I forgot to grab a ruler before I sat down to make these, and was too lazy to get back up and track one down, so I actually eyeballed these. (You can see that my red strip is a little less than straight.) The other elements are just punchouts that came in the kit.
The only difficulty I had with this was that you’re really supposed to thread the ribbon through the hole in that “celebrate” tag, and the hole is too small for that, so the hole just broke. Not a big deal – I just tied the knot and then glued the tag on underneath, and you can’t really tell the difference.
The technique for this kit is flap-fold card. The card templates look like this:
…and much to my surprise, I learned that there are multiple ways you can fold these up. (Maybe that should have been obvious, but I totally missed it.) Apart from the style in the card above, you can fold this shape any of the following ways:
I’m looking forward to finding out what other techniques there are to learn!
Disclosure: I was provided with the kit pictured above, to facilitate this review. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
