Cool Conduct: 100 Ways to Make a Positive Impression was written by a mom (Nicki Donley) who wanted to pass on the questions and answers she’d discussed with her own children.
A broad range of etiquette issues are addressed, such as table manners, introductions, and even sharing an elevator. Etiquette isn’t all that’s included, though. The book also talks about safety issues, proper care of belongings, and good use of technology.
The content here is all good — and pretty well encompasses the “conduct” areas I would want to address with my children. This would be a great guide for parents to be sure they’re hitting on everything, and a starting point for talking about each issue.
Unfortunately, I think the book would be very, very boring for children to read on their own. (At least my children would be bored.) It’s purely a series of questions and answers. Each section begins with a full-page, full-color illustration, but in between these, it’s just Q&A.
This would be a good resource to use as a framework for a homeschool etiquette course.
