Yes, you read that right. No, this post did not get stuck in cyberspace, finally making its appearance months after posting. I’m talking about getting ready for Black Friday now.
Why?!
Okay, now before you decide I’m completely insane, let me assure you that I’m not talking about making an item-by-item shopping list! Rather, I’m talking about planning in your budget for Black Friday.
I’ve noticed over the past few years that it isn’t just Christmas gift-friendly companies that run great sales on Black Friday (and on through Cyber Monday). A lot of things go on one of the biggest sales of the year – including plenty of things we use year-round and have to buy year-round.
Problem is, if the whole household budget is spent the other 51 weekends of the year, there’s no surplus to spend on Black Friday weekend, which would ultimately save money over the course the coming year.
SO…if it is at all possible, I would encourage you to start thinking now about setting aside a little out of each budget period to have some extra around right after Thanksgiving. (But then don’t just blow it! Consider what you’ll have to buy later, anyway, and spend to save!)
What have been your best non-holiday-related Black Friday deals?
