There are only a few weeks left until school starts back up, and with it, all of the other “programs” of the year – sports, dance classes, scouting, church programs (like AWANA), etc. So why not take advantage of these few remaining weeks of summer to enjoy the resources available in your area? We tend to overlook those “attractions” near us, because they just sort of fade into the scenery of day-to-day life.
For instance, if you live in Gatlinburg vacations there don’t seem like a big deal. Or if you live in New Orleans viewing the local tourist scene probably doesn’t cross your mind. But “staycations” have become one of the hottest things around. (With the economy the way it is, that makes sense, I suppose.) I just think it can be nice to enjoy to the fullest the places we call home. (Although I must admit that I’m as bad at this as the next person.)
So let me challenge you to find out (if you don’t already know) what’s in your area – museums, historical sites, entertainment venues, etc. – and visit at least one of them over the next month. Me, I’m waiting for the drive-in theater to be showing something good! lol
