Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

2. What is your favorite handmade gift you have received?
Probably the photo blocks my sister made, with pictures she took of my girls, last year. They are beautiful!
3. What handmade gift have you always wanted to tackle?
Candles. Soy candles are so much healthier to burn than standard paraffin candles (or those with a blend of paraffin and something else). But I keep not getting around to buying the supplies. Maybe next year. 😉
4. What was the best Christmas gift you received as a child?
Did I mention I have a lousy memory? I don’t remember most of the gifts I got as a child. I know I got a microscope for Christmas last year, and I’m pretty sure I really enjoyed that. I used to have a doll that my grandpap made me, too, but I don’t know if that was a Christmas gift.
5. What items are on your kids’ wish lists this year?
My seven-year-old wants more Littlest Pets. And, in particular, she feels the need to have a wedding arch. Which I did not realize was an accessory she had made up, rather than one she had actually seen in the store, until well after I had added it to her wish list. The two-year-old has no clue; she will just enjoy whatever we give her.
6. What is your favorite holiday food?
Fudge!
7. What will you be hand-crafting for the holidays?
Let’s see…I have made, am working on, or plan to make an 18″ rag doll, some 18″ doll clothes, an apron, a pillow cover, 2 gift baskets (not really hand-crafted, but assembled from scratch)…that’s all I can think of at the moment. I’m actually crafting fewer gifts this year than usual, because I did such a thorough job of buying ahead this year! At the beginning of November when I pulled everything out to see what I had, I was probably 3/4 finished!
8. What is your favorite holiday movie?
I don’t really have one. I’m not a particular fan of most of the Christmas classics. I like Miracle on 34th Street (the new one), but we don’t “do” Santa in our house, so we don’t watch it with the children. Sleepless in Seattle may be the closest thing I have to a “holiday” favorite.
9. Favorite holiday song?
“O Holy Night”
10. Favorite holiday pastime?
Ummm…I’m not sure. What qualifies as a “holiday pastime”? I enjoy getting gifts together. I like spending time with family. But we don’t really spend a lot of time doing things at this time of year that we don’t do the rest of the year. Singing – how ’bout that? I like singing. Our family really should go caroling together sometime.
