This year, I decided to do something a little different for the holidays, and focus on gifts for homesteaders/gifts for preppers.
Because we’re talking about gifts, I didn’t want to lean too utilitarian, but there are a surprising number of things that emphasize preparedness, self-sufficiency, and/or homesteading skills while still being gift-worthy. And I still managed to hit most of the gift categories I usually include in a Christmas gift guide! (Each of the “check it out” buttons will take you to my review of the product pictured.)

There are options here for a broad range of ages. For book lovers. For crafters/DIY-ers.
And there are even more options you could expand to. A whole range of homesteading books are available, for a variety of ages (some of which are more fun than others). Need something for the older kids, or for the whole family? Check out Wildcraft! My kids love this (cooperative) board game, and have learned a lot about herbs by playing it.
Stocking Stuffers
Even stocking stuffers don’t require that you break the theme. The batteries above would fit in a stocking. (So would the Farmers Sleeves, actually, in some cases — or if removed from the packaging.) But there are other options, too.
- seeds, especially heirloom seeds
- mini flashlight
- small multitool
- firestarter
- pocketknife
- small sewing kit
- travelers’/pocket notebook
- gardening or work gloves
- slingshot and/or ammo
- rope or paracord
- soap
- etc.
Need additional ideas to get your creative juices going? This article will talk you through some of the categories of gifts homesteaders might appreciate, and what to consider.
