I have been working on some genealogy scrapbooks that I had hoped to share with you today, but I’ve never done digital scrapbooking before, so I’m still on the learning curve. Consequently (although I’m making headway), I don’t have anything to show yet that I feel comfortable showing off!
Still, scrapbooks make great gifts! The project I’m currently working on is a genealogy scrapbook. I will be collecting our family history and compiling it into an attractive record. Although I’m generally an old-school girl and prefer working with paper, I had already been giving some thought to doing this one digitally. It’s much easier to make more than one copy of the same scrapbook that way. When Liz contacted me to see if I was interested in trying out My Memories Suite, it was the perfect opportunity!
Let me be quick to point out that the interface for this is pretty intuitive. It isn’t especially difficult; I’m just a little slow because a) I’m new to digital scrapbooking software in general, b) I’m working on something very specific, and c) it’s hard to concentrate on learning something new with little ones needing my attention! I am picking it up, but I think I may need to try something other than a family tree as a first project. 🙂
A baby book, graduation book, or wedding book would make a great gift. So would less traditional scrapbooks. For instance, you could compile a book of favorite quotes. (No one says that a scrapbook has to be a photo-album-type book!) These can be interactive – you can add audio and video. And you can burn the resulting album to DVD. (An interactive album of the baby would be a great gift for Grandma, especially if she lives far away.)
