We humans are always looking for ways to take the work out of things, to make life easier. (Take, for instance, the ongoing quest of modern American society to find a diet pill that works.) In this instance, the thing we’re trying to take the work out of is cleaning the shower.
In part one of this experiment, I decided that I was not impressed with the job the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner did, as far as cleaning my shower. For the second stage of the experiment, I observed how well the Cleaner did at maintaining my already-clean shower. The verdict? It maintained much better than it cleaned. It still left some oil buildup on the shower floor, and the walls aren’t perfectly clear of rusty water stains, but it didn’t do too badly overall.

I wouldn’t say that this would keep me from ever having to clean my shower the old-fashioned way, but it could reduce the frequency with which I need to clean it.
