I have a new sponsor for Relevant 2011.  I’m really excited about working with this company because, although they are fairly new to us, Livia and I already really like them.

Smart Mom Jewelry makes “Teething Bling.”  Teething Bling is necklaces (and bracelets) made of a firm silicone. They look nice on mom, and baby can very comfortably chew on it.  I love mine – and so does Livia!

nursing necklace, Teething Bling, SmartMomJewelry.comHere I am wearing the Onyx pendant.  (It’s actually a bit longer than this; I had tied mine up shorter.  And the photo was taken by my young daughter, so it might not be the world’s greatest angle.)  My research into silicone for bakeware indicates that silicone is inert.  The pendants and bracelets are free of BPA, pthalates, and all that yucky stuff.  (The smell might suggest otherwise when you first open them, but I’m pretty sure it’s actually the packaging that smells weird.)  The necklaces have a breakaway clasp for added safety.  (You know, so you don’t get a slice in the back of your neck from baby pulling on it.

Livia loves to chew on these, and I’m not surprised.  The silicone is soft, of course.  But it’s a firm soft; it’s not floppy.  It’s a good teething “consistency.”  Livia also likes to hold it by the hole in the middle while she nurses.

This really makes a nice statement piece, while giving me peace of mind.  No toxic metal to teethe on, no beads to break off and choke on – you get the idea.
