There are as many ways to bless people as there are people! Here, though, I’m going to share a few simple things that can be used to bless a variety of people.
- Send a card! Especially in this day of email, “snail mail” (other than bills 😉 ) is always welcome. Send cards for birthdays (just remembering will bless your friend), or “just because.”
(Buy It or Make It) - Take someone a plate of cookies, brownies, etc. This could be a neighbor, your mail carrier, the nurses in the ER – just about anyone you think could use a blessing. If you have a friend with food allergies, sharing a treat that’s safe for her to eat will be a special blessing.
(If you like, Buy or Make a special plate for this purpose.) - Share a small token with a friend, to remind her of her value in God’s eyes.
(Buy It or Make It – I have to note here that when I saw this project at In His Grace, I was immediately reminded of these tokens, and thought it would be a fantastic way to make some!)

- Have someone over for a meal or, depending on circumstances, take them a meal.
- If a meal is a little too much, have someone over for a game or puzzle night.
(You could play this or this. Or choose a puzzle that’s good for children with a broad range of ages.)
- Welcome newcomers to the neighborhood.
(Make It) - Bless a random stranger with a note of encouragement.
(Buy It or Make It) - Brighten the day of a sick child. You could gift him with a book, puzzle, or game, send a card, take the time to visit – just do something to show you were thinking of him.
(Buy It or Make It)
- On a family member’s birthday, make him feel truly honored. Make a big deal of celebrating him. We like to do this with a special “celebrate plate.”
(Buy It or Make It) - If you know someone who is having a hard time – perhaps a mom who just became a single mother – help set her up with her own business. This can be a great way to provide a gift that will help her get back on her feet, while still allowing her to take care of herself.
