When you start to learn about herbs and essential oils, you will, of course, need herbs and essential oils! Mountain Rose Herbs is a well-known, well-respected source for both (‘though they’re better-known for their herbs than for essential oils). They’re probably best known for their bulk herbs and spices (and all the odds and ends you might need for working with them). You can even mix-and-match to get their bulk discount for larger orders!
What you may not know is that Mountain Rose also carries other herbal items. For instance, the two you see below:
Baby’s Balm
Baby’s Balm is a salve of skin-friendly herbs (like calendula and plantain) in a base of olive oil and beeswax. Designed primarily for diapering purposes, it has other uses, as well. I think this could be used on any minor skin abrasions or irritation. It says “not to be used on open wounds,” but I’m not sure how they define “open wounds.” I don’t know if small cuts would count, or if they just mean large gashes.
Nurse-Me Rhyme Tea
Love that name! 🙂 Nurse-Me Rhyme Tea is Mountain Rose’s own galactagogue (milk-promoting) tea blend. Of course I haven’t gotten to use it yet, as the baby isn’t here yet, but I think it’s a great idea – and it uses some herbs I’m not personally very familiar with, so I’m looking forward to being introduced to them.
The packaging for both products is simple and lovely. (It’s always nice when the packaging can be lovely to look at.)
Be sure to check and see what the monthly specials are!
Disclosure: Mountain Rose Herbs provided me with the above two products for review. (You should be hearing more about them in the coming months, after the baby is born and I can use them with him!) They are also participating in the Naturally Healthy Baby celebration. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
