I see this regularly on my way to the library, and it grieves me. I know that the flag “etiquette” here is technically “correct,” but that which represents the Kingdom of God should not be placed in subjection to that which represents this earthly nation.
Unfortunately, as my husband very aptly points out, far too many of us are in our hearts “American first, and Christian second.” We should not be Americans who just happen to be Christians; we should be Christians who just happen to live in America. How shameful that we do not even consider our Lord’s Kingdom worthy of representation in a position of higher honor than a mere earthly kingdom. 🙁

I agree with you. Actually I’m on of those “weirdos” who doesn’t even SAY the pledge of allegiance. My allegiance is to God and God alone. I stand respectfully when others say it but I do not put my hand over my heart or repeat it. It bothers me even more to hear people “pledge allegiance to the Christian flag”. Again my allegiance is to GOD and NOT a piece of material. All of this speaks idolatry to me. Don’t get me wrong. I am very grateful to live in America. I just refuse to participate in idolatry.
That practice disturbed me also. That’s how this came about:
