Assignment: Write out some goals that you would like to accomplish. These goals should include your personal goals, but also goals as a family.
While setting goals, try to write out small attainable rewards for each goal accomplished!
As those of you who have been reading regularly well know, I have already set a number of goals, in working on my 101 Things in 1001 Days list. (For those of you who are new readers, see the left sidebar for more information.) I have not, however, solidified my goals for 2008. (I set goals every year, and part of my 101/1001 will need to be incorporated here this year.) It also had not ever occurred to me to plan rewards ahead of time, so I will have to give that some additional thought. My “first draft” goals for 2008 look something like this. (I have included goals for me to do with my family members, or to benefit my family, but I do not set goals for pursuing as a family, because I believe that is my husband’s prerogative.)
- Read the entire Bible (basically) chronologically, and mark verses/passages relevant to academics.
- Read 4 fiction books (including a “classic”), 1 biography, and 10 other nonfiction books (including at least 1 related to spiritual growth and 1 related to femininity).
- Finish memorizing Proverbs 31:10-31; memorize Titus 2:1-8 and 10+ other verses.
- Create/write down a Christmas plan.
- Create/write down a Passover plan.
- Create/write down a Sukkot plan. [All three of these are pending hubby’s involvement, because the creation of the plan is his “thing”; I will just write them down in an easily-referenced format.]
- Have Ariel reading by the end of the year.
- Get rid of 10+ items a month.
- Finish establishing a new schedule (one piece at a time!).
- Complete 10 crafty projects.
- Get up to my ideal weight.
- Be able to jump rope 100 consecutive times.
- Be able to reach my toes again. [Astute readers will note that several of these are pieces of my 101/1001 list.]
- Make progress on 101/1001 list by completing at least 45 items and taking action toward the completion of 10 others.
I will have to give some thought to the idea of rewards; I have a hard time coming up with ideas of things to use as rewards for myself, so I am looking forward to reading the other lists and hoping other ladies had some ideas!
Man it sounds like you really have it together. I love the idea of jumping rope. Very cool ideas. Blessings friend, vanessa
Those are great goals. I will be praying that you will accomplish them all. Have a Merry Christmas.
Vanessa, believe me, I definitely do not have it together! 😉 The reason I have things like “finish establishing a new schedule” on my list is that I’m currently something of a mess!
Can’t remember ever being able to jump rope 100 times – and I’m way past my best to even try that now!!
LOL!
Praying that you’ll achieve your goals for 2008! Until then, I hope you have a Happy and Holy Christmas – Nadolig Llawen(Welsh Christmas greetings!)

My family also tries to celebrate Passover. Some years have been more elaborate than others.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

Fantastic goals. I like your 101/1001 plan. I may have to look into that after the new year. Have a blessed Christmas and a successful new year.
Let me know when can skip that many time, after five kids I don’t think I can ever jump rope again 😉
