This little BottlePod doesn’t look like much, but it’s a pretty nifty gadget.  It slips onto the top of a standard water or soda bottle to provide a “tripod” for your camera.  Because it isn’t very big, it’s easy to carry around in a purse or pocket.

I found this to be surprisingly sturdy.  The manufacturers recommend that you use it only with compact cameras, and only on bottles that are at least half full (for obvious reasons).  I don’t have a hefty DSLR camera, but my digital camera is pretty large.  (It’s one of the early ones, and it’s huge compared to what you buy now.)  I tried it on a full (16-ounce) water bottle, and it was perfectly stable.
