We may not all live on that piece of prime West Palm Beach real estate that’s so hurricane-prone, but we are all susceptible to emergencies of some variety, and it’s wise to be prepared. One way to prepare is to put together a bag of essentials that can easily be grabbed to allow you to evacuate with a minimum of on-the-spot preparation. I have seen these referred to on other sites as “bug out bags,” presumably because they allow you to “bug out” quickly. 🙂 I keep ours (still only half-ready, but we’re getting there!) in the front closet, on top of our case of bottled water. It has occurred to me that other storage locations could work well, too. For example, if they were stored (properly sealed!) in an outdoor shed, they could make provision even in the case of a destructive house fire. Where do you keep your bug out bag(s)?
