I am notoriously bad at doing anything “girly.” Painting nails, shaving legs, putting together outfits – and fixing hair. But I have three little girls, and the two who are old enough to have an opinion are very girly! It is sometimes disappointing to them that Mama can’t do fancy stuff with their hair. When I saw this new tool from Scünci, I knew they would think it was really fun – and it looked like something I might actually be able to do!
My daughters have sometimes admired hairdos that include ribbons and things woven through them. I always thought these were well out of my reach. The Design Weaver makes these (some of them, anyway) doable. (Well, the woven ribbon part. I still have to be able to do the underlying hairstyle.) The primary tool looks like a giant sewing needle.

The first thing you do is complete whatever hairstyle you want, without the ribbons. Then, following the instructions, you use the tool to “sew” the ribbon through the hair. This, I can do! The set comes with a handful of strips of a fine tulle, but I think you could use the tool with any other ribbon you like. My girls were thrilled with their hair, and my husband was impressed. The girls got lots of comments on their hair, too.

Perhaps the best part is that this is not an expensive tool, and it’s from a national brand that’s easy to find at the drugstore or Wal-Mart or Target, so it’s readily accessible. I think we’ll be making plenty of use of this in the days ahead!
One of my readers will get to win one! Just follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter form below. (If you’re reading via email or RSS, click through to the site to see the Rafflecopter.) Each entry option will give you an additional entry into the giveaway; you do not have to do all of them to be entered.
Disclosure: Scünci provided me with a Design Weaver kit at no charge to facilitate this review, and will be providing the prize to the winner. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
My favorite hair styling tool is the curling iron.
