Gigi, “God’s Little Princess” is the brainchild of Sheila Walsh. And, let me tell you, Gigi is a hoot! She comes up with some peculiar ideas, and gets upset over some unusual things. But most of all, Gigi is a little girl learning what it means to be the beloved daughter of the King of Kings.
My girls love the Gigi movies, because they can identify with Gigi. She struggles with common little-girl issues, like disappointment when big plans fall through, feeling less special when a new baby is born, and not feeling as pretty as someone else because God made her different.
I love the Gigi movies because they teach my daughters to be godly young ladies. They’re realistic, not “life is all rosy and perfect because we want to be godly” movies. But the lessons Gigi learns are always rooted solidly in Scripture. Her parents are understanding but firm, and gently lead her back to God’s Word, emphasizing that she is precious to God — and so are the people around her.
They’re designed for girls from 4 to 7, but (although my 4-year-old likes them more), my 9-year-old still enjoys watching them. (She doesn’t usually ask to watch them, but when Sophia asks, she sits and watches, too.)
Most recently, we got to check out Real Princesses Treat Everyone Like Royalty and God Made Princesses in All Shapes and Sizes. Each of these videos contains 4 Gigi episodes.
Disclosure: As a Tommy Mommy, I was provided by Tommy Nelson with the videos above, to facilitate this review. Tommy Nelson will also be providing the prize to the winner. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own and those of my family.
My girls (especially the oldest) would love this, and it’s exactly what we need right now. A great way to remind her that she’s loved by God (and mommy and daddy).
