The creators of Learning Wrap-Ups have created another interesting learning tool. The Learning Palette is a self-correcting activity. Shaped like a clock, there are wells at each of the “hour” positions. Twelve different round pieces (six colors, each in a solid and a donut-shaped version) fit into the wells.

Cards are available in a variety of topics. The user places a card onto the Palette and answers the questions by placing the circles in the appropriate places.

Then he flips the card over and checks his work by ensuring that the circles match the colors marked on the back of the card.

For those of us who have children who readily lose parts and pieces, they’ve designed this with packaging to keep things intact. There’s a clear lid that goes on top, with indentations to keep the little circles in place. The clear top allows you to see if all of the pieces are inside. A screw-on top in the center holds the lid in place.

(If you do lose the pieces, you can buy replacement circles.)
There is now also an electronic version of the Learning Palette. Although there is something to be said for hands-on activities and the tactile experience, the electronic version is able to provide certain features that aren’t possible in an “analog” product – like tracking a student’s progress.
