If your kids are anything like mine, they have a hard time keeping track of how long they’ve read. That’s where Mark My Time
comes in.
This is a bookmark with a built-in timer. For a small timer attached to a bookmark, it’s got a lot of functionality! The feature we’re likely to get the most use from is the count-up timer. When your child (or you, if you’re the one using it) sits down to read, he puts it into count-up mode, then presses the start button. When he’s done, he presses stop, and it saves his time. Unless you reset it, this mode is cumulative.
This could be really handy for summer reading programs or Book-It goals where the measurement is increments of time.
There is also a count-down mode. This works like a standard timer. You set the amount of time you want to spend reading, and press start. It beeps when the time has expired.
Finally, there’s a clock. This is very easy to use, even without the instructions. The only thing I might have needed instructions for was figuring out how to reset it. It’s all pretty intuitive, though. The bookmark is handy both as a bookmark, and as a way to easily keep the timer with your book. My daughter loves this (and it isn’t even summer reading program time yet).
Use this as a stocking stuffer, or slip it into a gift book. It would also be great for use in workboxes!
