Thank you to Staples for providing the fridge referenced in this review. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
Many of my readers are probably familiar with the Brewer pregnancy diet. This is laid out on the Blue Ribbon Baby website and, as I was re-reading it during my last pregnancy, it registered that one of the “meal” times was the middle of the night! This completely baffled me – I wondered if I was supposed to be setting my alarm for 2:30 in the morning or something to eat. Intentionally losing sleep seemed counter-intuitive! Well, apparently most pregnant women just do wake in the middle of the night, and the idea is to have a quick snack while you’re already awake.
I don’t typically wake during the night while I’m pregnant. However, I do get awakened during the night now that I have a nursing newborn! Thanks to my chiropractor, it occurred to me that now I could take advantage of this middle-of-the-night opportunity to sneak in a few extra calories.
Being gluten-free, things like crackers aren’t really a go-to snack. Rather, my go-to snacks tend to be things like cheese and yogurt. Since they require refrigeration, this mini-fridge is a very handy tool for helping me maintain my weight.
(Aside: When you think of Staples, you may only think of “standard” office supplies, like paper, file folders, and pens. But they actually carry a wide range of products that can be used in breakrooms, etc., and some are very handy for the home! In addition to small refrigerators, did you know that they carry coffeemakers, cleaning supplies, snacks, cookware, and even Cricut craft cutters?)
This way I can keep cheese or yogurt in the bedroom for late-night snacks. The fridge is very small – about an 18×18-inch footprint, and only about two feet tall. This is great because I don’t need a lot of refrigerator space in the bedroom, and I don’t want it to take up a lot of space, either.
Something a little unusual about this model is the technology it uses. It doesn’t have a compressor. Rather, it uses “heatsink technology” to cool the interior. (Or so my husband tells me. I’m not actually sure what happened to the manual after we got the fridge all set up.) Possibly as a result, it spends a lot of time running. And it’s a little loud for in the bedroom, just because it’s typically (otherwise) quiet and we’re trying to sleep when we’re in there. It’s pretty quiet, overall, though, and probably wouldn’t especially be noticeable if you had it in a room where people usually keep refrigerators!
One thing I found really impressive was the design of the interior. The shelves slide out, and can be moved to different locations, depending on what you need to store on them. But even more impressive was the interior of the door. It’s especially designed to accommodate a 2-liter. See?
This is well thought-out detail, in my opinion. The little “railings” on the door compartments swing, so they will automatically adjust to the width of whatever you’re storing in the door.
This is a pretty good little fridge for the size. Its only disadvantage (if you can call it that) is that it doesn’t have a freezer compartment. (At least, I haven’t noticed anything else so far.) I think that’s just a consequence of the size – you can’t really have a refrigerator this small and have room for a freezer in there, too. So just don’t expect one, and it’s not a disadvantage.
I think this will serve us well for this purpose now, and in the future we can put drinks in it, in the living room.

This looks like a tiny mini fridge! You never mentioned how much it retails for though, unless I missed it somewhere?
Thanks
