Because our girls’ names were chosen for their meanings, we have been readily able to select “life verses” for them that emphasize these traits or concepts. In fact, Sophia’s (middle name) and Livia’s names are actually pulled directly from Scripture, so their verses were immediately obvious!
for Ariel:
“The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” – Proverbs 28:1
for Sophia:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
for Livia:
“Exalt [wisdom], and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” – Proverbs 4:9
Or this second option:
“My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother; for they will be a graceful ornament on your head, and chains about your neck.” – Proverbs 1:9
Baby #4
Of course, we don’t know yet whether baby #4 is a girl or a boy, so we’re not certain what his (her?) name will be. But we do have names picked out for either a girl or a boy. If we have a boy, his name will be Caleb, and I’ve chosen a verse about Caleb that I believe reflects the reason we find him a worthy namesake.
If we have a girl, her name is drawn from Scripture like Sophia’s and Livia’s — but not quite as directly. Knowing what you know now about our kids’ names and how we’ve chosen them, does anyone want to try to guess what girl name we have picked out?
“But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” – Numbers 14:24
