The Pilgrims’ Thanksgiving From A To Z is, of course, from the same series as the books in my last post and, thus, contains the same benefits.
Each letter represents a word or phrase, which is followed by a paragraph or so of explanation. The youngest ones like it because they recognize the letters. The not-quite-so-young ones appreciate the bite-sized chunks of information.
This particular book is great for a study of the colonies, or for a holiday study. It describes the voyage, the hardships of the New World, and the everyday functions of life in the new land.
I appreciate that popular misconceptions are addressed. For example, the reader is told that “pilgrims wore brightly colored clothing, not black clothes with buckles.”
As is the case with the previous two, we would recommend this.
