I’m not gonna lie; I think I laughed out loud when I first saw this product. Between the name and the design, it doesn’t seem like a real product! But it is a real product, and it’s actually pretty cool.
So what is it? It’s a dietary supplement for nursing moms, designed by a nursing mom, to help cut down on all the “stuff” we need to consume to stay fed, hydrated, and nourished while burning up calories feeding our little ones.
There is nothing in this supplement I’m not comfortable with as an ingredient, which is saying something. It contains electrolytes, probiotics, and a few galactogogue (milk-promoting) herbs, all in a tablet meant to be added to some of the copious quantities of water a nursing mom needs to drink anyway. And it’s sweetened with stevia, so no sugar and no weird fake sweeteners.

It comes in these nifty tubes. (The picture above is two packages. One box contains one tube.) I love that because this is self-contained and pretty small, so very easy to toss into a diaper bag. It’s approximately the size of a roll of quarters.

Each tablet is to be dissolved in 12 ounces of water. The first time I tried it, I wanted to dissolve it in a standard water bottle, just because it’s simpler for me to gauge the amount of water that way. (A bottle typically holds 16 oz., so it needs to be about 3/4 full.) The tablet was just a smidge too large to fit inside the bottle’s neck. It is, in fact, almost exactly the same size as the cap.

But the tablet easily broke in half with my bare fingers so I could drop the halves in. Then I just let it do its effervescent thing for a few minutes until it was dissolved.

You can see where some of the stuff has bubbled up to the top:

When it was done dissolving, I put the cap on and gently tipped the bottle back and forth to mix it up.
Now, this stuff sounds like it could potentially taste disgusting, but it’s not bad. It basically tastes like lemon tea. I personally don’t care for lemon tea, so this is not my favorite, but if you do you’ll probably enjoy it. I certainly didn’t find it terrible. If you really don’t like it as-is, you could probably toss a tablet into a smoothie. (Then you’ll obviously need to drink water separately for hydration’s sake, but the electrolytes in this should still help you avoid getting your minerals out of whack with all the water-drinking.)
The herbs are also good for menstruation, and this could be used by teenage daughters, although they might be a little weirded out by the name.
The container could also be reused once it’s empty — for sunflower kernels or something like that, or for a small sewing kit or a coin carrier, etc.

Hi! I found this post in my efforts to look for the Wonder mother supplement. My doctor had given it as a sample when I was pregnant and I am almost out of it now after having the baby a couple weeks ago. (I also take other supplements so I use this stuff for the road …..
My doctor has no more samples and I can’t find it anywhere! Any clue where I can purchase it?
Thanks for your time.
