When my daughters get a scratch or scrape, I like to treat it with something natural, rather than pharmaceutical-type antibiotics like Neosporin. Omyst is nice because it’s a spray, so you don’t make a mess of your fingers or something trying to apply it. Its creator is a certified Nurse Practitioner and herbalist.
While I could do without the Hindu undertones of the product’s website, etc. (the name is for “om”-myst), there’s nothing religious about the ingredients. Omyst is a tincture of skin-friendly herbs like calendula and plantain. It can be used on bug bites, scrapes, rashes, etc.
One important thing to note – it is an alcohol-based tincture, which means it stings. I didn’t think about this, and we sprayed it on a cut on my daughter’s knee without warning her it might sting. She let us know in a hurry!
I love having this in our first aid kit, as it’s a very “tidy” option for treating skin ailments. Also, because it’s a spray, a very small bottle (easy to store!) lasts a long time.
Disclosure: I was provided by the manufacturer with a bottle of Omyst to facilitate this review. As always, all opinions expressed here are entirely my own (and those of my family).
