1. Shave chocolate to make chocolate curls.
2. Shave a stick of butter to make thin “pats” that will melt quickly/easily.
3. Create thin slices of vegetables (like zucchini or carrots) to use in a salad. Or thinly slice onions so they don’t overpower your meal.
4. Create thin slices of vegetables (like potatoes) or fruit (like apples) for frying or drying into chips.
5. Create thin slices of fruit (like apples) or vegetables (like cucumbers) and roll up to create roses.
6. Shave cheese. Hard cheese like parmesan will make “curls” to top pasta, etc. Softer cheeses will make thin slices you can place on crackers.
7. Shave soft soap (like glycerin soap) to create single-use slices.
8. Turn a regular peeler on end and shave down the sides of a lemon at intervals to create “ruts” in the peel. Then slice the lemon perpendicular to these ruts to have roughly flower-shaped lemon slices for use in water or tea. (You can see the general idea in the background of this video: )
9. Shave crayons with a peeler for art projects. You can put the shavings between waxed paper and iron to melt. Or sprinkle the shavings on heavy paper or canvas and lay in the sun to melt.
10. Shave wax from a bar/block so it will melt faster (for making candles, etc.).
