Vision is important. It’s kind of like a road map: if you don’t know where you’re going, you don’t know how to get there!
Normally I’d save a post like this for next week, but one of these things I’m going to link you to is a webinar that happens at a certain time and I want you to be able to plan for that if you decide it’s a good fit for you. Plus I’m just kinda in planning mode. I just brainstormed a year’s worth of blog posts!
Julie Anne Jones on Having a Successful Plan for the New Year
Julie Anne Jones is a direct sales guru. She’s very knowledgeable. She’s also very down-to-earth and practical. And much of her content is applicable in a far broader context than just direct sales — like her recent blog post about 3 steps to a successful plan for 2015.
Her three steps are pretty simple, but they’ll help you hone in on where you want to focus in the coming year.
Launch Your Year
This upcoming free webinar (on December 30th) looks to be amazing. Of course I haven’t actually attended the webinar yet, as it hasn’t occurred yet! But I’ve downloaded the PDF workbook that’s meant to accompany it, and it is amazing. It’s considerably more in-depth than Julie Anne’s 3 steps, but it’s really helpful for delving into what needs growth and what’s in great shape. Just going through the workbook — even without the webinar instruction to accompany it — has given me considerable insight into what my “sticking points” have been, of late. The “wheel of life,” in particular, was helpful for me.
Be sure to register (and set aside time) for the Launch Your Year Free Webinar!
The Passion Planner
I’ll be honest, I don’t actually use the Passion Planner as a planner. I have my own planner I designed and have printed out and comb-bound that’s been working nicely for me. But I backed the Kickstarter campaign and was rewarded with the downloadable version, and I found the initial planning stages of the book (the “big picture” stuff, as opposed to the everyday or month-by-month pages) especially helpful.
A few key points worked together very nicely with the Launch Your Year materials in a synergistic way, to give me even greater insight, and to help me push even harder with my goals.
Goals & Reflection
Note that, while some of these resources may also walk you through goal-setting, what I’m looking at here is not really the setting of goals. It’s more of a background-setting — or setting the stage — for the more nitty-gritty goals that should (ideally) all fit into this big picture. The vision is more the “what” and/or “why” while the goals will be the “how.”
Reflection on the past year is significant, as well — but that is for another post, nearer the end of the year.
