Champion Me Books

Reading a book in which he is the star can really make your child feel special.  A number of companies will stick your child’s name into a story.  Champion Me books take it a step farther and make the hero look much like your child.  The little girl you see at left is the one that I designed for my daughters book.  Like Sophia, she has curly fair hair, fair skin, and blue eyes.

When purchasing a book, you first choose a story from one of four options.  Then you design your “hero.”  A number of options are available for hair color and style, skin tone, eye color and shape, nose, mouth, etc.  During the publishing process, that character is inserted in all of the illustrations throughout the book.  The child’s name, of course, is inserted, as well.

When you’re done, you can preview the book prior to purchase.  This lets you go back and change anything you weren’t perfectly happy with.  You can even add a dedication page!  When you’re ready, purchase your book as either a paperback book or an ebook (or both).

I was very pleased with the print quality of our book.  It doesn’t look like anything is “stuck in after the fact”; rather it just appears as though the book was written and illustrated with Sophia in mind (as it was!).  The rhyming text is slightly stilted on occasion, as is often the case with children’s stories, but should be perfectly appealing to children.  And I like that the message of our story (Sophia and the Stonkeropolous) is that of being kind.
