First of all, a side note: please ignore any typos you see over the next several weeks (months? I hope not!), or have seen over the last week or so. Since having broken the screen on my laptop, I’m hooked up to an external monitor, and it’s old, so it doesn’t display the proper size. As a result, half of my post-composing window is covered up, and I literally cannot see what I’m typing, so I just have to hope that I’m getting ti right – and that the computer is consistently keeping up!
And, moving right along…
I just have to say that I am SO thankful for our church family. We had a long journey to get here – a story of living in a “barren land,” as far as church fellowship is concerned, and which I wouldn’t want to air publicly. (There is no major scandal involved on our part or anything, but there were certain church disagreements that need not be aired all over the internet.) We had nearly despaired of ever even finding another church where they meet the most basic criterion of preaching the Word of God, and where we could feel that our young children would be spiritually “safe.” And then we found our church.
Talk about more than we could ask or think or imagine! Our church fellowship is wonderful! They are a better fit than I ever believed would even exist (at least in proximity to us), and they are such a blessing and encouragement to us. They both honor, and ARE, family.
As we pick our way along this new journey, of parenting our very difficult second daughter, their encouragement, understanding, and just plain acceptance have been a tremendous blessing. It is so uplifting to have “family” who recognize the difficulty and don’t just say, “If you would try harder…” but, “I’m praying for you,” and even, occasionally, “I’ve been there.” (And it helps that many of them have seen the instant transformation my little one makes from glowing darling to stubborn mule! lol)
So thank you, Camp of Faith, for holding up this weary mama.
What a beautiful thing to say! I love this, Rachel! We ARE family!
