There are a plethora of multitools available nowadays, in a variety of sizes, shapes, and configurations.  So what makes the Geekey multi-tool stand out?  Let’s take a look at what this key-shaped multi-tool has to offer.

The Geekey

The Geekey, as you can see, is shaped like a key.  It comes attached to a card describing its various tools.  Most of the tools are visible from the front.

A few, however, are only visible from the back.

There are a number of things that stand out about this tool.  First of all, it isn’t “padded” with a bunch of largely-useless tools.  Apart from the pipe and bowl (for smoking) most of the tools here are pretty general, basic tools that large numbers of people are likely to truly need.

Metric and imperial options are available for several of the tools.  For instance, one side has a small centimeter ruler, while the other has an inch rule.  (These aren’t very long, for obvious reasons, but they’re handy to have in your pocket or purse.)  The wrench section (looks like stacked graduated hexagons) is also made both ways.  You can see in the photo above how they don’t line up the same on both sides of the tool.  I think the imperial measurements are on the same side with the inch rule and the metric with the centimeter ruler.

The Geekey is a little larger than I had envisioned — it’s larger than a typical housekey or similar key.  It’s no larger, though, than most car keys.  The thickness falls into a similar range — a bit thicker than a “standard” key, but not as thick as the bulky plastic grip section of a modern car key.

This makes it a good size for the purpose.  It’s small enough to fit comfortably on a key ring with your other keys, but it has enough bulk to hold onto and enough thickness to be sturdy when you’re trying to work a screw, nut, bolt, etc. with the tool.  And it doesn’t have any protruding sharp points (at least not any sharper than any other key), so you won’t stab yourself with it while it’s in your pocket.  (Also, I’m pretty sure this one is airline-friendly.)

Gift-Giving

The Geekey makes a perfect stocking stuffer.  It can be an especially handy option for those hard-to-shop-for guys on your list, but nearly anyone can use one.
