It’s a woman’s perpetual dilemma – what to get for the guys on the gift list?  Guys, as a general rule, are notoriously hard to buy for.  Most of them can’t give you a wish list; they don’t know what they want, either.  Well, except for where electronics are concerned, and there they usually have a plenty long wish list – of really expensive stuff!  (I know that’s how it goes around here.  “What do you want for Christmas?”  “I don’t know.  I can’t think of anything I want that you could afford to get.”)  So many of us resort to gift cards, usually to the hardware store or someplace similar, where they can buy tools or ball lock pins or cabinet hardware or lawnmower parts or whatever else they like for whatever the newest project is.

But one up-side of giving to guys is that most of them don’t mind practical gifts.  Most of the guys on my list will be getting useful things: power strips and extension cords, reusable sandwich wraps for their lunch bags, flashlights, etc.  (There is a gift card or two in the mix, as well, but not for hardware.  For food. lol)

Other, less practical suggestions include music, movies, or books.  The tricky part here is not duplicating, if you don’t know what albums or videos or books the recipient already has.  In this case, a gift certificate can be useful – go for a video rental one.  Of course, if you get more specific, you might manage to squeeze a list out of him.  Ask him what albums he’s been putting off buying or what movies he’d like to see.
