Ruby Rocket’s sent us a box of each flavor of their pops to try, to facilitate our review. As always, all opinions here are entirely my own.

My kids love freeze pops. But the conventional storebought ones – yuck! Sooo much sugar (and sometimes sugar substitutes, which are even worse). And crazy food dyes. (Seriously, if my “food” is that bizarre shade of neon-ish blue, do I really want to eat it?) Now, we do sometimes freeze our smoothie leftovers and make popsicles that way. But sometimes you don’t want to make something; you just want to buy it already finished. And sometimes your kids just want to feel a little less weird and eat something that looks more like what everyone else eats.
Ruby Rocket’s are a great option! I didn’t get any pictures, ’cause it’s August and they’re freeze pops, and they melt! But we’ve tried all three flavors of these pops and they’ve all been a hit. Everyone has their own favorites, of course, but for the most part everyone in the house at least really likes two of them, even if the third flavor is not a favorite. (I’m not a big fan of the green one, myself, preferring the red and the orange.)
They look like “regular” freeze pops from the grocery store – that same “colored cylinder on a stick” shape, in the little paper wrapper, and brightly-colored. So they don’t look too “weird,” as far as the kids are concerned. They taste just as yummy and they’re plenty sweet. The texture/consistency is a little different, though.
Because these are not just juice- or syrup-based, they’re a little “gritty” or something. Kind of like frozen smoothie. Because the flesh of the fruits & veggies is included. And because it doesn’t have as high a sugar content, it doesn’t freeze “soft” like sugar-laden goodies. These are very, very hard. As in, you might chip a tooth or something if you try to bite them off! Just suck them or lick on them as freeze pops are meant to be eaten and you’ll be good to go. (Or let them melt a bit first if you want to bite them.)
Because these are so wholesome – containing fruits, vegetables, and probiotics, but no GMO’s, added sugar, artificial colors, or other weird additives – I can confidently offer these even to my toddler. They’re great for teething gums. And even for sick kiddoes who lack a notable appetite!
Rock-It Red has strawberries, beets, carrots, bananas, and sweet potato in it. Orbit Orange contains sweet potato, strawberries, bananas, orange, and carrots. Galaxy Green uses avocado, kiwifruit, green apple, bananas, and spinach. None of these flavors contain gluten or dairy, either. (The probiotics are soy-derived, though, so if you’re super-sensitive to soy you’ll want to know that.)
You can find them at a number of retailers but if, like us, you can find them locally, you can still order them online. My kids were excited to get a box from Green Bay, Wisconsin (we’re Packers fans!) when ours shipped from IceCreamSource.
I’m hoping to convince our local supermarket chain to stock these, because the kids will want them again and it would be nice to be able to grab a box locally rather than having to wait for them to ship!
(Ruby Rockets has some great Pinterest boards, too, by the way.)
