There are almost 7,000 languages in the world. Fewer than 500 have the whole Bible in their language. Many don’t have even one verse. I’m not okay with that. Are you?
One of my favorite things about Relevant [now Allume] is the opportunity to meet companies and organizations I wouldn’t otherwise have known about. The Seed Company — and their OneVerse project — are the gold nugget find of my Relevant experience.
The Seed Company is all about Scripture translation; they work with organizations whose names you might find more familiar — like Wycliffe. The goal is to get God’s Word to every people group in this generation. With the technology we have available today, this is attainable!
OneVerse is a program whereby, as an individual or group, you can sponsor one verse of Scripture. It works much like sponsoring a child — except that for $26 (which is the average cost of translating one verse into one language), you can provide a verse of Scripture to an entire people group! OneVerse will keep you up-to-date on the project, and even let you know exactly which verse you helped translate.
The Bible says that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” But how will they hear the Word of God if it isn’t even available in a language they can understand? Truth is a passion of mine, and it breaks my heart to know that millions of people don’t have access to the greatest Truth of all.

Will you sponsor a verse? Will you partner with us in prayer? (The Seed Company can tell you which people groups most need prayer — and they’ll keep you up-to-date, as well.) Will you spread the word?
[UPDATE: The OneVerse program has ended. But you can still partner with Seed Company to help with Bible translation!]
I’m glad that The Seed Company went to Relevant to meet bloggers like you! It would have been a shame to leave such a great resource – and such passion for the word of God – untapped. Thank you so much for this post and for your mention of prayer. There are so many prayer needs with the translation projects!
