I prepared a couple of journal pages a couple weeks ago, using a method suggested by Jillie at Craftster. I stuck sticky notes to the pages to mask off “blank” areas, and painted over the pages, then removed the sticky notes. Jillie uses these squares for items on lists; I haven’t actually used my prepared pages yet.
This first one was simple purple watercolor painted over the sticky notes. The background was left white.
And this one was a two-step process. First I painted the entire page lightly with green watercolor. After it dried, I stuck the sticky notes on, and sponged the whole thing with a darker green acrylic paint, diluted with water.
I used the same sticky notes for both pages, and ended up with these super-cool-looking Post-it’s when I was finished! I have never been able to achieve this sort of edgy effect for scrapbooking projects, so I think I might try preparing some pages using scraps of cardstock stuck on with Post-it glue stick, and see if I can maybe end up with some scrapbooking/cardmaking elements as byproducts of the page preparation process.
Those are awesome looking! I want to try that myself!!
PS I found you on the PU2B message board — sounds like we share very similar beliefs (I read about you on your blog) and pasts. I am a Home School graduate myself. My husband went to Bible College but is currently a construction worker going back to school for his teaching degree. I homeschool my 4 year old (preschool), have another little guy and another on the way! We are active in our local church. I need to bookmark your blog!
I’m glad you came by! It’s nice to “meet” you. 🙂
