When Ariel was small, we had a bit of a falling-out in my household over particular Christmas traditions — most especially the Christmas tree. Some of you may remember me writing about that in the past. We’re surrounded by conflicting messages: “Christmas is pagan.” “Christmas is purely materialistic.” “Christmas is…” You fill in the blank. What we’re often lacking is balance. Kirk Cameron and his crew seek to bring the focus back to the reason most of us are celebrating Christmas in the first place, with Saving Christmas.
In official terms:
This Christmas, have your family join with Kirk Cameron’s family and dive headfirst into all the joy, dancing, celebration, feasting, imagination, and traditions that glorify the true “reason for the season.” KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS is an engaging story that provides a biblical basis for our time-honored traditions and celebrations, and the inspiration to stand strongly against a culture that wants to trivialize and eliminate the faith elements of this holy season. So take in the splendor; take in the majesty; take in the story. Take it all in… and let’s put Christ back in Christmas! KIRK CAMERON’S SAVING CHRISTMAS is in theaters for a limited engagement beginning November 14 for two weeks only!
Now, before I show you the trailer, I have to tell you that I have mixed feelings about some of the details of the movie — but taken as a whole, I think it’s wonderful. So if any details rub you the wrong way, try to hold your judgment momentarily. With that said, take a peek at the trailer…and then keep reading for more of my thoughts.
