If you ask me who my favorite bands/groups are, there are two that top the list: Watermark and Casting Crowns. Watermark is (to the best of my knowledge) not recording anymore, but that’s okay — because Watermark consisted of Christy Nockels and her husband, Nathan, and Christy Nockels has a new album out!
Let it Be Jesus
Let it Be Jesus released today, and it’s just as amazing as I would have expected.
It probably sounds like restating the obvious, but this album is all about Jesus. Not just in the way that all worship music is about Jesus, but in a way that’s similar to an “all the names of Jesus” Bible study. It explores a variety of angles of our relationship with Jesus; of who and what He is to us. Tracks on this album include:
Freedom Song
My Anchor
Everything is Mine in You
The Wondrous Cross
Let it Be Jesus
Who Can Compare?
Jesus, Rock of Ages
If You Never
Leaning on You, Jesus
Find Me at the Feet of Jesus
Wonderful Name
These eleven songs total 60 minutes of play time (almost exactly).
And they’re everything I’d come to expect from Watermark. Meaningful lyrics that direct and redirect my focus to God. Compelling music that’s upbeat and interesting enough not to bore me, but quiet and acoustic enough to be worshipful. And “sticky” — in a good way. I’ve only had a chance to listen to this album a few times, so far, but I already find myself able to sing along with sections of songs.
The only downside to having received this album in digital format (rather than as a CD) is that there’s no insert which, presumably, would have the lyrics. I do find it easier to learn all the words to new songs quickly if I can read along the first time or two, and I haven’t been able to do that.
I have thoroughly enjoyed and been blessed by this album so far.
You can follow Christy on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram, and buy the album on iTunes.
