Fashionable women generally have more than one bag, so they can coordinate with different outfits, varying levels of formality, etc. I am not a fashionable women. When it comes to my purse, part of the reason for that is that I’m too practical to take the time to move everything from one bag to another all the time. This is where Miche helps make fashion practical!
The concept behind Miche products is very simple. You buy one base bag – and then you can purchase multiple shells to go with it. When you’re ready to carry a “new” bag, you just change the outside, and you don’t have to move all of your stuff!
Miche base bags come in four sizes/styles: Petite, Classic, Prima, and the new Demi. For review purposes, I received a Prima bag with two shells. This is a great size for a diaper bag – especially if you use cloth – because it’s the largest bag Miche makes. The Chelsey and Laurie shells are especially great for this purpose, as they have loops at the bottom to allow you to attach the straps in such a way as to convert the bag to a backpack, and keep your hands free. The Delilah and the Lucy are specifically designed as diaper bags, and even come with changing pads.
I really wanted to do a video review of these, to show how easy it is to change the shells, but I’m not tech-savvy enough to know how to get the video from my camera onto my blog, so you’ll have to settle for a serious of photos (which are somewhat awkward, as I was trying to swap bags and take photographs at the same time).
Here is my bag with the Kali shell. I love this turquoise color! (It looks a little floppy because I hadn’t put anything in it yet.)
Here you can see how the magnetic flaps attach to hold the shell in place:
And as I start to take them off:
After removing the flaps, the bag is slid out of the shell.
Here you can see the basic bag (with the basic straps attached), with no shell at all. It’s not bad-looking, even like this!
Let’s finish the transformation, though, by putting on the Chelsey shell. First we slide the bag into the shell.
Then we attach the magnetic flaps. (Once the shell is completely on, these will also help keep the bag closed when not in use.)
This shell has a flap; here’s what the “new” bag looks like:
Here is one of the two little loops found at the bottom of this shell:
…and the bag configured as a backpack, using those loops:
This would make a good baby gift. Any of the bags would make good birthday, Christmas, or Mother’s Day gifts for a woman on your list. 🙂
As noted above, I received a Prima base bag and two shells to facilitate this review. Miche has also provided bags and shells for the upcoming Baby Shower for Jesus. All opinions are entirely my own.
