Happy Scrabble Day!
In honor of the day, I thought I’d do something a little fun and round up some ideas for things to do with Scrabble parts, and/or related to the game.
(Need parts to work with in order to complete these projects? You can buy Scrabble tiles, racks, a combination of tiles + racks, or an official Scrabble refill.)

Scrabble “Tiles” to Use in Art
Things to Do with Tiles:
- Add magnets. The results of this project could be used to play a game on the fridge, or for travel, or Just as a more attractive version of letter magnets.
- Ink or dye them.
- String them on ribbon. (1) (2)
- Or chain them together.
- Or use a popsicle stick as a bail to hold them together.
- Decorate them with washi tape.
- Decoupage images onto them.
- Add findings (keychains, earring hooks, wine glass dangles, etc.)
- Solder the edges.
- Add 3-dimensional accents.
- Add Diamond Glaze to the mix and make a pendant. (1) (2)
- Add resin to the mix and make a pendant.
Things to Do with Trays:
- Use one as a rack for something else.
- Incorporate them with tiles to create ornaments.
- Build card storage with them. This example is for some kind of role-playing game cards, but it would probably work well for flash cards, too.
- Slice them, and use the slices for jewelry.
- Use as display racks for LEGO men or pictures. This would be great with unframed canvases.
Things to Do with Boards:
- Use them as covers for notebooks or journals.
- Make a sturdy box.
Make Your Own Scrabble Tiles (for a Variety of Purposes):
- Giant wooden tiles
- Giant canvas tiles
- Oversized wood tiles
- Edible tiles from snack crackers
- Stone tile coasters
- Giant backyard Scrabble
(Need packaging or a pretty presentation for small ornaments, pendants, etc. that you’ve made from your Scrabble parts? Try a small tin.)
