When we’re browsing the “OnDemand” content from our cable company, we’re shown trailers, previews, etc. for new movies and new/upcoming shows. The other day I caught a little clip of Signed, Sealed, Delivered and, to be honest, I thought it looked pretty lame. I got completely the wrong idea about what kind of show it is and everything! (I thought it was a romantic comedy.)
So I was really glad to be approached by one of the networks I work with, with some better information about the show. Because it’s great. (And, yes, it has romance, and yes, it has comedy, but it’s not primarily a romance or a comedy.)
I got to preview this week’s episode (the one airing tomorrow – May 24th), and it’s just…compelling. It’s brought to us by Martha Williamson, who’s best known for Touched by an Angel. It carries through many of the same themes of faith and virtue, but the setting and concept are totally different.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered is set in the dead letter office of a fictional post office. (Actually it’s a fictional department, too, because the post office doesn’t really work the way the DLO does in the show. ‘Though it might be nice if it did.) They spend their days getting mail redirected to where it needs to go – and in the process encounter the occasional missive that takes them above and beyond the regular daily routine. These letters, as you can imagine, often change lives.
I’ve gone back and watched the first two episodes, so far, in an attempt to “catch up.” (I think this week is week 6? Or something like that.) I’m enjoying it…AND it’s been nostalgic for me, too. As a teen, every Sunday night my family would make homemade pizza and watch Touched by an Angel. Well, here this show – from the same producer – comes along on Sunday nights…and we could do pizza night, too.
It’s a very family-friendly show with some very positive messages, well worth checking out. The American Bible Society even built a Bible study to go with it! To learn more, you can visit the show’s website or Facebook page. Or, of course, just jump right in and watch it tomorrow night. 🙂
As thanks for posting about the show this week, I am being entered in a drawing for a prize pack. I received no other compensation, and all opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

I’ve not heard of this show. Is it still on? And glad you still remember the pizza/movie night fondly — so do I! 🙂
I don’t know. It’s between seasons, I think, but last I heard it was coming back.
