If you’re looking to introduce your children to a variety of cultures there are a number of ways to get started. Food, for instance, is one way. Prepare a dish from another country or culture, and use that as a jumping-off point for talking about the culture.
Literature is another potential method. Read a book or story that originated in the location you’d like to learn about.
For many countries, you can start with your Bible reading. Where was Damascus? What is that country called today?

Zenaida has a neat idea, though, for using flags, and it works, at least at a basic level, even with toddlers. Where is the Flag? is explained more thoroughly in her blog post. She offers plenty of very specific suggestions for making this both successful and fun.
