Dear Designers/Manufacturers,
If they are not an obvious decorative design element, please do not put flower-shaped buttons on little girls’ clothing. This goes doubly for baby clothing with its tiny buttons, and for clothing which preschoolers and kindergarteners will be attempting to fasten/unfasten themselves. These buttons are notoriously difficult to unbutton, as the scalloped edges catch on the edges of the buttonholes, preventing them from sliding smoothly out of the holes. On occasion, this trade-off is understandable, as they add an element of femininity to the design. All too often, however, these are nearly invisible buttons on the back of a garment, making their use both pointless andfrustrating. Tired moms everywhere will appreciate your switching to “boring” round buttons!
Sincerely,
a mom of three girls
