When I was a teenager, I babysat for a family who had a baby boy. I remember being at their house one day when a CD was playing. It was beautiful praise-type music/lullabies, all in celebration of a son as God’s gift. It stuck with me and, years later, when I was pregnant with my own children, I went looking for it.
Problem is, I didn’t know what it was called or who did it, and I remembered it only vaguely. The parents whose children I was watching all those years ago didn’t remember what I meant, either. So I searched. For several years. Until finally I found it.
By that time, we’d determined that our then-current baby was a girl, so it wasn’t relevant. I ordered it, though, when Caleb was born, and it was worth all that searching.
Bless My Little Boy is full of lullabies to sing to little boys about all that we dream and hope and pray for them, as well as prayers to the Lord on their behalf. If, as a Christian parent, you desire to say something to your tiny son – or pray it for him – it’s probably touched on here. There is so much that my heart would not be able to express with my own words that is said for me through these songs.
(There’s a little girl version, too, but I’ve not had opportunity to listen to it yet. I didn’t know it existed until after I located the other one.)
Some of them are just sweet lullabies (with nothing about falling out of trees – whose silly idea was that song?). Others are quite deep:
“Lord, I dedicate; yes, I consecrate my son unto You for Your purposes, for Your perfect plans….”
“Father God, bless my son. May he grow to be a man of God.”
“Only God Himself could love you more…than I.”
“Help us to train up this child in the way he should go….”
I highly, highly recommend this album.
This post is being shared at the Tuesday Baby Link-Up, Titus 2 Tuesday.

I am a new great grandmother, my first grandchild, of a beautiful boy. I appreciate the information here and plan to find this cd. I believe this is the greatest gift that a person can give their children, to let them know that they are a gift of God. Not enough children grow up feeling the self worth that they learn when they KNOW that they are special and appreciated. Children ARE gifts of God. Thank you, and God bless you and yours.
How exciting, Vollena! Congratulations!
I don’t know if the CD is still in production; you may have to find it used. It really is excellent, though!
What a wonderful sounding CD, thank you for the recommendation!
Thanks for linking up with the Tuesday Baby Link-Up! 🙂 Please come back on Tuesday to see if you were featured 🙂
